Cocktail Recipe – The Hennessy Majestini Cocktail

Looking for something to drink while watching the Royal Wedding of William and Kate?  Well, the fine folks at Hennessy have created a cocktail to commemorate the Royal nuptials.  Called the Hennessy Majestini, it is a nice combination of Hennessy V.S. cognac, Aperol and St. Germain with lemon.  They recommend it over ice in a rocks glass (as shown in the photo they sent below) but I think I would prefer it up in a coupe glass but that’s just me.

This is a bit of coincidence as I have been playing with brandy cocktails quite a bit lately.  They tend to be less smokey than their whiskey based cousins even though that is a bit of a sweeping generalization.  Other brandy cocktails that I like to call my friends include the Brandy Alexander cocktail, the American Beauty cocktail and a Bosom Caresser Punch cocktail.  Who doesn’t like bosoms?  Or cocktails?  But we are off topic.

So, all together, let’s raise a glass to the happy couple!  Cheers.

By the way, a fun drinking game for those of you watching the wedding might be to take a drink every time you hear the world “Royal” during the broadcast.  Just a thought.

The Hennessy Majestini Cocktail

2 ounces Hennessy V.S.

1 ounce Aperol

1 ounce St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur

1/2 ounce lemon juice

1 star anise for garnish

Combine all ingredients but the star anise in an ice filled cocktail shaker and shake to combine.  Strain all ingredients into an ice filled rocks glass (or up in a chilled coupe glass if you are me) and garnish with a single piece of dried star anise for garnish.  Enjoy.
